Family concert! Edwin Rutten brings the Matthäus Passion to life for young and old
Akerk Groningen sold out
School performances in Loppersum private
How do you introduce children to the enchanting music of Johann Sebastian Bach? How do you tell them about the Passion of Christ? Edwin Rutten, known as 'Uncle Willem', takes young and old on a musical journey through the Matthäus in a special family performance.
With his compelling storytelling, Rutten makes the St. Matthew Passion accessible and exciting. Christ becomes 'JC', Judas and Mary are given a recognizable role and Bach's music is explained in an understandable way. Why did Bach use certain instruments? What is the difference between an aria, a chorale and a recitative? Rutten answers these questions in a playful and effective way. The complete Matthäus lasts more than three hours, but in this performance children and adults are given an impressive introduction to the world of Bach in just over an hour (70 minutes). A unique opportunity to discover the splendor of Bach's masterpiece!
